Indys adventure

Staring indy my pony I wrote a

story

about her (as a magical horse)

................................................................

Indy’s adventure (not the first)

Once upon a time not too long ago there was a horse called Indy and indy Loooooves food and when I say loves food I mean adores food. So as you can imagine she tries to eat everything in sight. One day she was dreaming of being a unicorn when she found shiny delicious-looking food. Indy sniffed the tub and without looking at the label she ate all of the shiny food in the tub. Little did she know the packet said WARNING EAT THIS AND YOU WILL TURN INTO WHAT YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT! Indy found herself in a world full of … Unicorns Nooooo indy shouted that food was not even that good I don’t want to be a Unicorn I want to be back in my paddock with normal food! Indy galloped all around trying to find a way back to her paddock. She thought maybe if she was a Pegasus she could fly outta there. On the way, she found some silver sparkly water. She was sooo thirsty so she decided to stop and have a drink. But she forgot to read the label and slurped up all of the water in the tub and of course it said. WARNING DRINK THIS AND YOU WILL TURN INTO WHATEVER YOUR THINKING ABOUT (which was being a Pegasus). So Indy found herself in the SKY!!! Oh, No indy Scremed then she remembered why she loved Pegasus. They had wings Indy flapped her wings and rose up into the sky. This is so fun, Indy said, and then she remembered she was trying to get back to her paddock in time to get her dinner. She flew up into the sky. She flew so high she could see above the clouds. She looked hard and could just see valley road cattery her home. Indy flew down so fast she could hardly stop. She landed in a heap on the ground. She ran to the shed and found a full bag of the magic food that turned her into the Unicorn. This time she read the label it said WARNING EAT THIS AND YOU WILL TURN INTO WHAT YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT! She thought about being a normal horse. Then boom she was in her paddock just in time for her dinner she ran up to the gate and gobbled down all her food. That night Indy revived her adventures. Indy now knew where Pegasus live and that they are way cooler than unicorns but she would rather be a normal indy with normal food.

Maybe our puppy

 Hi everyone,

3 months ago our family dog Nes passed away at the age of 13 I was heartbroken. I had never lived without a dog and to be exact I had never lived without Nes. so for about a month and a half, we were living without a dog I found it really weird. So we decided to start looking at dogs on the SPCA site. We wanted to adopt a dog in need of a home because they are still amazing dogs like any other. We looked and looked and saw lots of amazing dogs that just were not right for our family. There was even one that we shore we were going to get we had heard of from a friend. They said it was in foster but it would be ready for adoption so every day I looked on the SPCA page and one day when I saw her we called my dad and said she was on there. When he called up two hours later we were informed that she had already been adopted so we kept looking on the site but again there were no dogs. But then luckily for us about 4 days ago saw a lovely suitable puppy...

Cass's math grid results will get better

Hi everyone
since it's a new term we need a new maths grid sheet, this is mine I choose these colours because they are some of my favourite colours. On Monday and Wednesday, we do a grid in 6 mins and I usually get around 94 out of 100 I would get 100 but I don't know my 6 times, 7 times, and 8 times.
So my goal is to learn them and get 100 out of 100 in a time under 6 mins so keep checking my blog to see if I improve.

Cass's awesome speech

Hi everyone
this is my SPEEEEECH I have done it on the Kaimanawas witch are the horses that live in the Kaimanawa ranges I love these horses and I really admire their beauty so I hope you can see why.
By Cass

1.

Hi, everyone I would like to talk to you about the Wilson sisters, and their plight to save the kaimanawas. The kaimanawas are the horses that live in the kaimanawa ranges. These horses are really wild, beautiful, and dirty. There are farm escapees like Thoroughbred, Station Hacks, welsh ponies, quarter horses, and many more breeds. They can be small but tough and have a little thing about them that you just can’t find in other horses.

2.

They come in a size range of 13.2 hands to 15.3 hands. Today, there are about 300 horses in the ranges but 30 years ago there were about 1,700 horses.DOC began a population management program in 1993 to keep the horse herds at a number that does not affect the habitat they live in or themselves. Now DOC has a muster every 2 years to keep the number of wild horses down.  When there is a muster DOC tries to find good homes for some of the horses, but all others go to slaughter.

3.

They are shipped away on big transporter trucks to be dog-tuckered.

Imagine that! They have just been mustered and have no idea what’s going on. they’re scared out of their mind. Luckily for some,  Vicki, Kelly, and Amanda, three fantastic sisters are on a mission to adopt as many as they can!. When the Wilson sisters pick their horses they start their 2nd life by becoming showjumpers, liberty horses, and showtym camp ponies.

4.

It sounds simple, but it’s not! These horses are wild and have never been touched by humans. But the Wilson sisters are always up for the challenge. They did similar stuff most of their childhood.

When the horses are shipped to their new homes they are stressed out so once they arrive they get put into yards with water and hay to calm down. Then the conditioning starts.

5.

Every day the Wilson sisters go to the yards to give them hay and water and feed them grass through the rails.

At first, the horses don’t take it but after a while they do and slowly but surely they start allowing the Wilson sisters to touch them.  It makes sense!  Who wouldn’t look forward to extra grass and a brush!

They then start the next part of their training which is being led. Leading is very important because horses need to be led to be ridden and to get caught and lots more.

6.

In the ranges, it was the lead mare and stallion that were driving the herd. But now it's the Wilson sisters who have to be boss, in a kind way. So once the lead rein is clipped on, there are pats, yes lots and lots of pats until the horse associates only goodness and fun with the lead rein! And then on to the next stage of getting used to a rider saddle and bridle. First, they get the horses used to the saddle blanket so it gets used to things on its back.

7.

After that, they stand next to the horse’s back and start talking to them and then they lie over their back till all their weight is on the horse. If the horse behaves, they slowly sit upright and don’t move. They then get off and let them go because If they do too much it’s overwhelming for the horse.

So the next day they do it again, lie over their back, and sit upright but this time they give the horse a squeeze. 2 weeks down the track they can walk, trot, canter halt, and then they teach them this under saddle.

 8.

So you see,  taming these wild horses is not an easy feat. It is a really long process and can be a bit scary, but how amazing it is to know that a 2nd chance has been given. The horses will always have that little thing about them… Free spirit.  Even though I'm not able to train them, yet, I am doing my bit by raising awareness. You can do your bit too! You can spread the word and get your whānau to make a donation or even sponsor a horse.

Hope you enjoyed my speech

Beach fun with ponies

Hi everyone
this is my post about the beach with the ponies. Yesterday I when to the beach with my riding teacher Ashleigh. I was looking forwards to this all day we had left the A&P show grounds at 12:40 AM and got to the beach at about 1:00ish. My Nana and Poppa were coming to watch me ride and take some photos. Ashleigh had brought her a very good camera so my nana was on camera duty. We got all the horses tacked up and led them down to the sand. I was going to ride  Ashleighs horse P.J aka pajamas and his show name is Bananas in pajamas he
is 14.3 hh and is 8 I am riding in the Amanda Wilson clinic.
Ashleigh was riding Whiskey his show name is  -AJE on the rocks-  he is 15hh and is 3 turning 4 in November. I led P.J up to a log and hoped on. We got a feel for the horses on sand (because whiskey didn't like sinking in it) and then we went for a walk down the beach. We walked and trotted down the beach and then trotted back but P.J broke into a canter so we went for a fast canter back to my nana and poppa. It was awesome we then walked the other way but didn't trot back because the sand was too dry and the horses could sink and break their legs so we
walked back. Well, we walked back whiskey kept trying to roll we got back to nana and poppa again and Ashleigh let him roll while P.J  stood staring at him. I then when back down the beach and cantered back. I trotted him around a bit and then we went and looked at the photos. Then whiskey tried to get away and since Ashleigh was sitting down when he pulled away she let go and he tried to get back to the float while Ashleigh walked after him P.J kept trying to follow him so I made him turn in circles. We then made our way back up to the float I rode up and everyone else walked. We unsaddled them and let them eat after
a while we loaded them into the float and drove back to the paddocks. It was soooooo fun. Thanks, Ashleigh

Jump for joy

Hi everyone it's now level 2 yay. yesterday I went to Ashleigh's (my riding teacher) and we were tidying up the horses after they had been on the hill so they were really dirty. The only thing that wasn't that good was they would not want to come off the hill but maybe we were lucky. The day before Ashleigh had put up an electric tape so if they came down to the bottom it would be harder to get back to the hill. When we got there all the horses were in the bottom paddock Yesss. The only problem was that one of the horses blue had somehow gotten over the electric tape. Ashleigh thought that maybe she touched it with her nose and then when she got an electric shock and jumped over. So we had to get her out and then let the brushing begin. first, we got Shyla and blue and we brush them as well as we could and then put a fly rug on. we then go Shyane and PJ and whiskey and gave them a brush over and lunged Shyane and whiskey. After that, it was time for me to ride P.J. First I walked and trotted him around then I went for a little canter then Ashleigh set up a crossbar at 20cm and he jumped it really well. Then she raised it up to an upright at 30cms and he jumped it lazily well Then we raised it to an upright at 55 or 60cms and it tock three hundred times before he actually jumped it and then I rode him around bareback and up the hills.

farm fun

Hi everyone this is my post about fun on my nana and poppa's farm my nana and poppa own a lifestyle block in valley road or you might know it as valley road cattery witch is a business for boarding cats that my nana runs. So back to the farm if you remember how I did a blog post called horse poo for sale. Well, we also put a post on Facebook about the horse poo and 2 people brought it off us. Now we only have 6 bags of it and don't have much more in the paddocks so hopefully, we don't have too many more orders. I founded it really cool that we could do contactless pick-ups. We would leave how many bags they want by the letterbox and they would collect it and put the money in the letterbox🐎. The other really cool thing is that I have been riding indy (and I think I have done so many blog posts about indy you will now know she's my pony). So I have been riding indy and she has behaved really well. Indy hates moving any faster than a walk when she's going in circles and lately, we have been trotting her in circles and she was really good.😎 hope you enjoyed my blog post about what I've been up to in lockdown.

Oh My Gosh, what's that? (Would you enter)

This is my blog post about a creepy house its fiction and is staring me when I'm older.
hope you enjoy reading
By Cass

P.S this is not the actual house that I talk about.💧

Oh My Gosh, what's that?

I am at the bottom of the hill staring up into the thick mist. I could only see the shape of a lifeless house. It was big “ like a mansion” but that's all that I could make out. There was a huge gate but I think I could just fit through the gaps. I just got through and stepped onto the broken cobblestones, they crunched and cracked under my feet and a shiver ran up my spine. The wind was very strong now and the rain poured down on me making my long brown hair saturated. I started to walk up the path and each step made me tense more. I was only wearing trackies and a hoodie and was fighting to keep warm. I was getting very close to the house and could see that it was very rundown. It had paint peeling off and some of the wood was rotten. I was now breathing very fast. What if this was the last time I ever saw the light. I shouldn’t have run away from home and I never said goodbye to my pets. My heart was racing and lots of horrid thoughts were spinning through my head but something was pulling me towards the house. I stepped onto the front step. It felt like the house moved but nothing was going to stop me from entering. I should have left when I had the chance because when I stepped inside I froze…  It was very dark and I could see a shape lying on the ground in the house. It smelt like something rotten. There was a lump in my throat but I didn’t dare to cough. Then a light flickered on and I saw the thing lying on the floor more clearly, I wanted to run away but I didn’t. I couldn’t move, that's all I know. I looked again and I was filled with relief, it was just an old curtain or something like that. But I was still freaked out “what was that red stuff on the mat”? I have to get outta here now I say, but then for some reason, I started walking down the hallways through some doors and up the stairs. It was like I couldn’t stop myself from moving, it felt very strange but I was less scared by now. When I got up the staircase my eyes had adjusted to how dark it was and I could see more clearly but I had my phone in my pocket just in case, because who knows what I might find. Just then I heard a sound that almost sounded like a cat. I started shaking again and then started hearing weird noises. The wind was still going bonkers and I could hear the windows rattle. The rain padded down on the house making me feel uncomfortable. I heard thunder and then saw a flash of lightning. The storm was closing in and getting very bad but the house seemed sturdy and I felt some of my panic disappear.  I walked into a room that seemed to look like a lounge or dining room. It looked all very old-fashioned, and I felt like I was in a movie from the 1920s. Then I suddenly saw a pair of yellow eyes staring at me and I felt as though I almost fainted. I felt for my phone and turned on the flashlight and what I saw made me laugh. It was so cute. There was a kitten, a tiny black fluffy kitten not much smaller than my hand. It was very skinny and looked as though it would not survive much longer. My mouth hung wide open and I cried with relief. I thought that I was about to die. The kitten lay on the couch staring into my eyes. It was the most beautiful kitten I ever saw. We both sat there for about a minute and then I wondered what I should do with the kitten. I couldn't just leave it there so I decided that I should take it with me. I looked at my phone and gasped, it was 11:41 pm. I didn’t know how it got so late but I thought it would be better if I stayed the night here because the storm outside was still so terrible. I picked up the kitten very carefully and went and lay down on the couch with the kitten next to me he purred and I drifted off to sleep. I woke to the sound of floorboards creaking and thunder. The kitten lay next to me alert and listening.  I picked him up and gently put him in my backpack he wriggled a bit but then got used to it. The floorboards were still creaking and I quietly got out of bed and slid on my riding boots. I tiptoed to the hallway and listened, the noise had stopped but it was still stormy. I checked my phone and saw that it was 03:27 am. With my new kitten in my backpack and my backpack over my shoulder, I set off to find my way back outside. I found the staircase and made my way down the stairs. I stopped at the bottom to check if the kitten was alright. I found her snuggled up in the bottom of the bag asleep. I went down the hallway and hoped I was going the right way. “This place is so big it’s like an old haunted mansion”. Every time I got to another door I would stop and listen. I swore I was being followed. I was quite scared but I knew I had to get back home soon because I had a little creature depending on me to help it. We got to the room where I saw the curtain on the mat. The door was just in front of me when something touched my shoulder. I jumped and made a run for the door. I didn't dare to look behind me. The door opened with a creak and I jumped of the steps and I ran the fastest I had ever run in my life. Once I was a safe distance away I slowed down and looked as hard as I could. I saw a big shape standing in the doorway and knew that this was the last time I would ever set foot on broken cobblestones or go into creepy houses. I checked my phone and saw the time 4:09. I must have run pretty fast, I thought to myself if it’s only 4:09. I looked in my backpack and found the kitten looking a bit frightened. I gave him a reassuring pat and I started to jog down to the gate. The walk home took about an hour. I walked up the path to our house and opened the door. I remembered that dad would not be home till 8:00 am. so I took my backpack off and made the kitten comfy on a woolen blanket and collapsed on my bed. and had a rest for five minutes then got up and when to the kitchen I got some milk out of the fridge and warmed it up in the microwave. I checked it to make sure it was not too hot then poured it into a bowl and gave it to the kitten who slurped it up eagerly. I went to the lounge and got the fire going. I then went to the bathroom and got two old towels and a bowl filled with warm water and went and got the kitten. When I got to the lounge I thought I should name him so I gave him the name shadow. What an action-packed night.

Lockdown maths

Hi everyone
It's lockdown so we do different maths than in the classroom this is the maths we do Mrs hall sets us all-new activities every day and we also have to do 3 mathletics activities i enjoy it quite a lot.

Lockdown fun

Hi everyone
In lockdown right now, I have been having quite a lot of fun. I am living with my Nana and Poppa witch means I am living with my pony Indy. I have ridden her a lot in the past week. We have gone to the reservoir am done some flatwork. I have also had an online piano lesson since we can't go to other peoples place's, it was very fun to be able to still do piano lessons. I learned a new song called ant invasion and practiced my other pieces. I have been calling my friends a lot and talking for ages it is nice to talk to them even if I don't see them in person but I still really miss them. I have been working in my Nanas cattery since Wednesday when lockdown started because the people Hayle and Helen the ladies who work in the cattery can't come to work. It's fun to see all the cats, clean out the cages, and vacuum but the thing I least enjoy is scooping up cat poo! I have been reading books and horse magazines quite a lot since I can't go many places. On Monday we started google meets with our class and it has been quite cool seeing everyone who is in my class on a screen we have also been doing online learning witch is cool but a bit tricky. So that's what I have been doing in lockdown so far. Hope you enjoyed my blog post.

Museum trip (hue style)

11/08/2021
Today we went to the Museum we left at 10:00 when we got there we, we ate some food that we brought. Then we were told to go into the room where we did all our learning.  The lady who was taking our lesson told us about all the things on the table they were all musical instruments she blew on them to show us the noises they make but some of them were too hard to play and others you had to play with your nose. There were two really cool ones one was called Porotiti and the other was called Purerhue you swung them throw the air and they made a wooshing sound the lady told us that we would decorate a Purerhue later. there was another I really liked it was a very big shell that was attached to a piece of wood with flax it was called Putatara.
We got to go outside and try and work the Porotiti but we weren't very good. we all did a quiz she played the sounds of the instrument and we had to mark what sound we thought it was, Anna and I were in the same group and got all the answers right. Then we got told how to use the Purerhue and then started to decorate them I used a fantail stensile and a stensile but I don't know what to call it. we were almost at the end of our visit so we had to hurry. We sang them a song and then Mrs hall said that we still had half an hour so Mrs hall let us walk around the museum we look at everything it was very interesting. I give this trip a rating of 9/10

Art is now food wow

Hi everyone
This is my art we were trying to copy Giuseppe Arcimboldo when we made these.
First, we got some veggies and had a cople of minutes to create a sculpture of a person or animal
so our group decided to make a bunny it was a bit tricky because the veggies wouldn't stop rolling away so our bunny didn't really look like much of a bunny more like a veggie monster.
Then when we made our bunny we got to sketch out our creation after we were happy with it we went inside to draw a good copy with pastil it was very fun and looked quite cool.

Taking a trip to the museum

Hi everyone,
This post is about the museum which we went to on Tuesday the
23 march 2021. When we got to the museum we went into the learning classroom. We talked about how Gisborne had changed. Then we all went and got a clipboard and went round the looking for all the things that we had to find on the clipboard. Then we went back to the learning classroom and she showed us how to make little kiti and we all started to make them. it was a great trip to the museum
